Julian Fellowes 著 Downton Abbey Script Book Season 1
６月２日に注文し、本日６月１６日に到着しました。昨日に着いていれば、夜の放送に間に合ったのですが、これでは最終話しか間に合いません。
本書は、NHKで放映中の Downton Abbey の Script Book 台本[脚本] です。
Amazonで検索していて見付けました。Kindle 版では、すぐに読めるし、価格の半分以下ですが、Kindleを持っていないし、電子書籍にはなじみにくいので、現物購入しました。英国から郵便で送付されてきました。封筒には Content Value ＄10 となっていましたが、現物の裏表紙には、USA ＄19.99となっています。
ROBERT： Good morning, Carson.
CARSON： Good morning, m'lord.
ROBERT： Is it true? What they're saying?
CARSON： I belive so, m'lord.
Robertは主人公で伯爵、Caronは執事である。m'lord は御主人様と言う意味。
ROBERT： Is her ladyship awake?
O'BRIEN： Yes, m'load. I'm just ging to take in her breakfsst.
ROBERT： Thank you.
He knocks gently, speaking as he does so.
ROBERT： May I come in?
O'brien は女主人付のメイドである。her ladyship は、夫が妻はーーー と言う意味。
MARY： Lynch, I think we'll go back by the South Lodge.
LYNCH ： Very good, m'lady.
MATTHEW ： Lady Mary, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I was only joking.
MARY ： Of course. And I agree. The whole thing is a compleate joke.
Lynch は馬丁の名前である。Mary は、伯爵の長女、Matthew は伯爵を継ぐことになった遠縁の若者。ここでのm'lady は御嬢様。
英語の十分にわかる人には必要ないと思いますが、私には面白いです。
Season 2、Season 3 がStar Channel で放映されるので、７月、８月の契約をしました。二ケ月分の契約で、最初の月は無料でした。
